Product Detection

Product Detection is a vital aspect of evaluating marketing effectiveness, particularly in understanding how product visibility and context influence consumer perception. Brainsuite's Product Detection model is designed to accurately identify and distinguish between branded products in creative assets, providing comprehensive insights into how these products are presented across different channels and contexts.

Differentiating product types for comprehensive detection

Brainsuite's Product Detection capabilities are tailored to meet a range of needs across different industries and product types:

  • Branded Packaged Goods Detection: Our model detects consumer packaged goods (CPG) with branded packaging, such as items found on supermarket shelves. This detection extends to video content, allowing us to track the visibility of these products over time and across various formats.

  • Product Detection: For CPG, this means identifying the product itself (e.g., an unpackaged diaper). For durable goods, it refers to detecting the product being sold (e.g., a car or a piece of furniture), while for services, it focuses on identifying the service product name (e.g., a specific tariff or service offering).

By distinguishing between these categories, Brainsuite provides a nuanced understanding of how different types of products are presented and perceived by consumers.

From general detection to client-specific customization

Our product detection models are pretrained using a mix of proprietary and publicly available datasets, where products have been annotated by human experts. This results in a robust, general-purpose detector capable of recognizing a wide range of products. However, the real task is to reliably detect a given client’s specific product, which requires a tailored approach.

To achieve high accuracy for specific brands, we fine-tune our general model using customer-provided examples, publicly available assets, and synthetically generated data. Human annotations, such as bounding boxes drawn around the product, combined with synthetic data where products are algorithmically placed into different scenes, form the basis of training the final product detection model. This ensures that our models are accurate and effective, even when dealing with challenging or lesser-known products.

While we offer powerful off-the-shelf models for branded packaged goods and product detection, we understand that client-specific products may require additional setup to ensure reliable detection. In these cases, we work closely with clients to customize the models for optimal performance.

Continuous evaluation for best-in-class performance

Brainsuite continuously tracks and evaluates the quality of its product detection models as part of our MLOps pipeline. By monitoring model performance over time, we ensure that our product detection capabilities are always evolving, adapting to new data, changing consumer preferences, and brand-specific needs. This iterative approach ensures our clients benefit from the most up-to-date and accurate product detection technology available.

Product Detection for deeper insights

By accurately detecting products in creative assets, Brainsuite helps clients understand how their products are positioned and perceived across different marketing channels. Whether it’s tracking a branded packaged good in a video ad, identifying a durable product in an image, or recognizing a service in a promotional post, our model provides insights that help brands optimize their creative assets and improve product visibility.
